Songkran Water Festival in Thailand, a 3, 4, or 5 Day Holiday this Year?

Songkran 2007 Water Festival: 5 Days Long!

Last night on the Thai news there was mention of Songkran 2007 going for a total of 5 days this year! I heard it on the TV and couldn’t believe what I heard. Then I saw it on the internet – the NATION online which also said the same thing.

Usually Songkran is 3 days. IF it falls on a weekend the Songkran rulebook (Thai law) says that it can be extended for another day. This year it’s being extended another day after that extension!

So, Friday, Sat, Sun, Mon, and Tuesday you will have a good chance of getting drenched. In places like Chiang Mai, Pattaya and Khao San road it would be a given that they’ll max out the 5 days with water throwing. Other places – it will likely be sporadic with mostly kids still throwing water on days 4 and 5.

Songkran is fun, but man, 4 or 5 days of it would just be too much I think…
