Heatwave

[ 3 ] March 1, 2010 | Vern

It’s been blistering hot now for about 2 months. We’ve had a couple rain showers in 60 days, but it’s noticeably hotter and dryer than the last couple years.

Moving into a house I thought it’d be cooler than the flat we used to stay in. Not so.

It’s so hot we had the huge Tokay Gecko I caught in our kitchen – move back into the kitchen. She’s hanging out behind the counter. I’ve been splashing water down the wall and throwing 4 inch geckos back there to keep her appeased. No sense her running around the kitchen looking for food and having wifey scream out regularly.

Is it hot where you’re at?

How’s the northeast these days? Like a volcano?

Very hot and dry in Ban Na Doem, South of Surat, off highway 41. Couple of showers in the past 2 weeks but not enough to keep the well filled. Reservoir is very low and city water, a little trickle at a time. A lot different than last year at this time.

I think the south is getting pretty hammered by the heat and dry spell already. I thought it rained too much in the past in the south… Maybe just had a couple wet years and now back to normal? I prefer the heat to the cold and the dry to the rain, but man – I’m sweating as I type on the keyboard most of the day. Hate to use air.

I’m in Chiang Mai, and it is very very hot. So bad that I’m leaving to go back to Sydney. I don’t think i’ll come back to Thailand for long stretches of time anymore for this reason – unbearable weather.
