18,000,000+ Views at Youtube – Need Help

Catching cobras with BBQ tongs.
Catching cobras with BBQ tongs.

Every year or so I do one of these posts asking for some help with my Youtube video project.

I have a ton of views and 8,000+ subscribers to my channel. The content is 98% focused on Thailand topics.

I keep saying, this is the year I focus 100% on Youtube and really KILL IT. Each time I write a post like this, I am optimistic for about a week, two weeks and then I lose all hope of finding the person I need to help me with this. See, I don’t really just want someone to help me, I want someone to JOIN ME at Thailand Living on Youtube.

What that means, I’ll try to explain below.

  • Are you single?
  • Do you have a monthly income which doesn’t require you to stay in one location and work?
  • Do you have an interest in video production – being on camera? Shooting video of someone else?
  • Can you edit video at all? Nothing major needed, and this isn’t a requirement, however, it would help.
  • Are you living in Thailand full-time? I need someone that lives here, not visiting. This would be a long-term project – at least a few months to see what kind of level we can bring it up to.

I need to find someone:

That has money coming in already and doesn’t need to work. They don’t have a family. They don’t have an addiction they need to keep going. They don’t need to do anydamnthing except help us blow up on Youtube. That would be the ideal. If you have a family and can still get out a lot – to travel or shoot videos for a couple days at a time, great, that still can work. What doesn’t work is if you need to be teaching English or doing something else to make money. I have a family, but I have the freedom to take off when I want for up to a week if necessary. I can travel around Thailand pretty much at will. I need to have a partner that has more time than I do, or is in a similar situation because otherwise arranging days to shoot will be more trouble than it’s worth.

I need to find someone that has energy, intelligence, is funny, and who doesn’t mind being on camera. This will be almost like a reality show, but we’re not filming daily 24-7, we’re just shooting some interesting content which will be either funny, weird, shocking, disgusting, or something else.

You should have an open mind about most things. No homophobes or anyone that gets in fights at the bars. You should have a sense of humility and be able to self-deprecate. I don’t want anyone that believes in Jesus, Mohammed, Casper the Friendly Ghost, or any of that nonsense. We’ll be swearing on camera. We’ll be in bars sometimes. We’ll be interviewing ladyboys, toms, expats, lunatics, cobras, spiders, and whores. You should be OK with that. You should love it really.

I don’t care what country you’re from, or what language you speak primarily. You must speak English well. If you also speak Thai, that’s a big bonus. My Thai is passable for general conversation, but I’m unable to get complicated points across. If you can do that, it would help immensely. If you cannot, it isn’t a problem, we’ll get by.

There is a short-term goal and a long-term goal. Well, many, but here are the main ones:

Short-Term. We shoot a lot of video, really make an extreme effort to make the most interesting videos possible. We do this for a few months and see what happens with the views at Youtube. If it takes off then we’ll look at long-term goals.

Long-Term. We create the biggest Thailand channel on Youtube. We make it a full-time project and we keep going until one of us dies or gets bored.

If you think you could be interested in this, let me know as soon as possible. If I’m going to do this in 2014 I need to do it now.

Answer the following when you email me:

Name
Age
Gender
Country of Origin
Primary language? Do you speak English well?
Where do you live in Thailand?
How long have you stayed in TH?
Do you speak Thai? At what level?
What is your background shooting video?
What is your background being on camera?
Where can I see photos of you? (add links or attach to email)
Where can I see video you shot or were in? (links)
Do you make enough money already that you’re not worried about it for a few months at least?
Are you free to travel as you wish? For how long?
Do you have a website? Flickr? Twitter? Youtube? Instagram? Anything? (links)
Do you have a DSLR camera? Any camera? What camera? What lenses? What other equip?
Do you have any skills that might help us SMASH IT at Youtube?

Which videos did you like at http://www.youtube.com/user/thaipulsedotcom ?

Send to thaipulse at g m a i l.

If you don’t think YOU could do it, take a minute and think about your friends who might be better suited for this.

Thanks!

Fighter Book and Thailand Centipede Video – VLOG 1

This is Thailand video blog (VLOG) 1. I don’t know how long this will continue, but, I want to see about doing a video every day about something in Thailand. Some videos will be good. Some will suck. If you don’t like me – they’ll all suck, so go somewhere else. If there’s nothing I feel like saying on a particular day – or week, I’ll not do a vlog. I think where people go wrong with vlogs and podcasts is that – if there’s nothing going on – DON’T shoot a video about it. Nobody cares.

VLOG 1 is about a book I think you’ll like and a beast you wouldn’t want to get anywhere near you without your knowledge. I caught a giant centipede last night and stuffed him in a snake bag. I’ll shoot some video of it today, let it go somewhere far from civilization, and post the video here tomorrow. We caught a small tarantula, some frogs, saw a beautiful leopard gecko type thing, none of which I bothered to shoot video of – it was night time and I’ve seen all that stuff before. I’ll try to find interesting things to show you, not bore you.

There’s always something going on in Thailand. I might comment about news, I might show you a snake I caught, I might tell you a good place to vacation in Thailand that you haven’t thought about, or mention a blog I just turned on to. There will be tech tips – like using your iphone as a modem for your computer, and other tech topics.

Here’s VLOG 1:

Thailand Videos Featured at CNN International

Well, you never know who liked your stuff – not even if they write a whole article about it and not tell you.

I was looking at links coming in to the Thailand Snakes (.com) site, and noticed something that looked like CNN. Following the link I found the source – a page of my Thailand videos they featured. Pretty cool. I was surprised because I heard nothing from them. Guess they work quickly and didn’t want to bother with formality.

Here’s the page:

Thailand’s Creepiest Crawlers

Small Cobra Video

In keeping with the wildlife and snake theme of the site lately here is a video of a small cobra my friend and I found on the street. We jumped off the motorbikes and shot some video. Neither of us were prepared to shoot video so the first half minute is a little blurry. Stick with it – it gets much better.

Great fun to be so close to something that could kill ya.

New Thailand Videos: Waterfalls, Headless Centipedes, Cute Kids

Here are links to a few new videos that were shot long ago, but only today do I have a fast enough connection to upload them all to the server on my site.

Here I catch a gecko that was running around the living room. You should really invest in one of these small nets if you can. You can catch centipedes, spiders, geckos, dragonflies, large bees and anything else that flies into your home.

A boy of about 5 years old kills a lizard and brings it back for us all to see. We all make a big deal about it. This is the natural state of things in baan naawk (countryside) here in Thailand. They might barbeque it and fry it up.

This is from Koh Samui. We are at the Big Buddha during a holiday and I wanted to document this Buddhist donation machine. Rotating bowls that collect the donations and recycle. GOOD IDEA.

The next one is a Buddhist Fortune Teller Machine > This gives you a magical number that will tell you what your fortune is on the papers below corresponding to the number chosen by the machine. After we read our fortune I read the one next to it – which is quite hilarious.

For Chinese New Years I buy about 2700 firecrackers and light them off (in groups of 250 or 500 at a time). Good fun and a BIG MESS.

Cute Thai kids we met at a waterfall in Surat Thani on the weekend about 2 months ago. The girls were darling, the boy a bit annoying. We had a good time going off the vine into the water under the waterfall.

Top of (or, level 8 rather) Dod Fa Waterfall in Surat Thani Province. There are more levels – but how to reach them was anyone’s guess. Supposedly there are like 22 levels I think? It’s even difficult to find this level 8 and I had some experience co-workers leading me up to it. We were the only ones there – really a cool place. The video shows some of the falls – but, further up and set back into the hill is more of it that can be seen through the trees if one steps back.

Jonny Durex? We were walking around a wat on Koh Samui that is out further than the Big Buddha and we saw this memorial that appears to be a gag – at a Thai (Chinese) Buddhist temple. Someone created a memorial to Jonny Durex. Is this a gag? All the others were in Thai and serious (real). This one I’m not so sure about.

Kids will be kids… The same group of cute kids from the video above. They found a huge centipede and someone had chopped it in the head before we got there. When I started filming I wasn’t aware there was a problem with it’s head until it started to move. Wow. Then later when I was paying attention to something else, they had separated the head from the body and it was running around with about 2 segments and it’s head. Crazy eh? This IS the countryside…

A big Katydid.

Phurin Waterfall, Suratthani, Thailand. A long video (4:38) walking around the waterfall and pools and watching the kids having fun swinging on the vine over the water. I try it too.
