Here is a general idea of the tourist calendar - HIGH season and LOW season for visitors. Keep in mind that during certain times of the year and depending where you go - the THAI HOLIDAYS are important too. There are a large number of Thai people and resident westerners (expats) living here in Thailand that go on holiday for 3 day and 4 day weekends when they get the chance. Where do they go? Same place you want to go when you come from your country: Ko Samui; Krabi; Railay Beach; Pattaya; Patong, Phuket; Ko Chang; Ko Samet and usually other beach areas. November - May is generally considered HIGH SEASON High season prices are more expensive for rooms and travel. But, all the ferries are running and you'll have no problem finding a way to get anywhere you want to go. June - October is generally considered LOW SEASON. During low season the prices are lower, and there are fewer tourists around. In Krabi the big ferry doesn't run from Nopparat Thara beach to Phuket, so you wouldn't want to plan a trip like that during low season. You CAN get a smaller boat for a higher fee though. Please take a look at the THAI HOLIDAYS calendar to see when the Thai people and expats living here in Thailand might have a three day weekend because if they do the beach areas like Koh Samui and especially Krabi or other beaches where locals can get to easily are very crowded.
