Best Thai-English Dictionary
(in my opinion)

I have about 12 dictionaries and books to help me learn Thai. I found that the most helpful was the book put together by the English Program staff at a government school that I worked for. Which, I'm sorry to say I don't have in digital format to re-distribute to you.  The 2nd most helpful book was this small dictionary. It has the most common words and it has the closest pronunciation guide (phonetic) that doesn't require learning what upside down u's should be said like and other phonetics. I don't want to have to learn ANOTHER language besides English and Thai - the language of phonetically how to pronounce something. Show me in English in the 26 letters I'm familiar with!

This dictionary is all regular English alphabet with marks for the tones.  Keep in mind that NO dictionary is perfect and that sometimes instead of spoken English you'll find words that are used for only written English - and if you speak them - you sound odd. Ask a Thai person for the correct pronunciation and whether the word is used in the written or spoken Thai language..  Do this for all words you get out of the dictionary that you are trying to learn - it's essential.
