All Thai curries are served over aromatic jasmine rice from Thailand. There is a BIG difference in rice. There is rice that is served in high schools which is the cheapest rice... and there is Thai jasmine rice with a lovely smell that costs more, but makes your meals much more enjoyable.
Find a Thai restaurant location that serves good Thai jasmine rice!
Gang Pedt - Sounds like Gang or Geng. The "Pedt" sounds like a dt sound at the end - and like "ta". Thai consonants at the end of the word are unaspirated - look up that word in the dictionary. It means that they don't emphasize the TA it's just held in...
Contains: Spicy chili pepper curry with pork, eggplant and sweet basil.
Gang Keow Wahn - Spicy green curry that is a little sweet. "Wahn" is a rising tone - which makes it sound like a french word - like a question. WaaAAHHN.
This contains: Eggplant, pork or chicken, sweet basil and sometimes the blood of pig, and fishballs.
Penang - pork or beef, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, chilis. Penang is actually an island in Malaysia that my husband had to go to for a visa run!
Mahtsamaht Gy - Chicken curry with curry spice and lentil beans, onion and sometimes potatoes.
The following may not be found in the restaurant as it requires duck.
Gang Pedt Bedt Yahng - Spicy roasted duck curry.
Contains: Roasted duck and pineapple but is spicy from chili paste.
