Nopparat Thara Beach, Krabi, Thailand

Nopparat Thara beach in Krabi, Thailand - near Ao Nang beaches is a quiet beach that is usually the target of local and visiting Thais when they come to Krabi. There are few tourists that come to Nopparat Thara except to pass through as they board the ferry to Ko Phi Phi or Phuket Islands. There is a large ferry that runs daily during the tourist season (November - May).

The beach itself has ultra fine sand and yet it's mixed with hard shells and the small pine cone seeds that fall from the trees that line it's shore. The beach is long, hundreds of meters and during low tide it's possible to walk out to the small islands that you see in the photos below. Nopparat Thara beach is a local sort of beach because it's quiet and shady. Thais don't like to sit in the sun to get dark like foreign visitors (non-Asian) seem to. Thais would rather have a picnic in the shade.

The water off the beach is always warm enough to swim and there are some submerged coral, rocks and other hazards occasionally. Best to wear sandals into the water so as not to cut your feet. Nopparat Thara beach is really gorgeous and if you get a chance you should go have a look. It's located just west of Ao Nang beaches. Keep following the road along the beach - going west and you'll run into it. You'll be there when you see lots of trees along the beach. There are a few small signs too.

There is excellent seafood at the largest restaurant near the parking area at Nopparat. That's the only one I've eaten at and it's excellent Thai seafood.

During low tide at Nopparat Thara beach you can walk out to the small islands that are close by. If you climb to the top of the closest one - not difficult, you can see this view! Awesome!

Nopparat Thara is really a family beach. You'll see mostly Thais there, and a handful of foreigners. It's NOT a topless beach, but the Europeans seem to think so.

The beach and trees remind me a lot of Oahu, Hawaii's windward coast near Bellows AFS and Kailua. Do you know it?

At low tide it's possible to walk the whole way out to those small islands. Climb the one on the right for the awesome view in the first photo (above).
