Kamin Cave in Suratthani, Thailand (Tai Rom Yen National Park)

Inside Kamin cave, Tai Rom Yen National Park, Suratthani, ThailandKamin cave is a great cave to explore in Surat Thani's "Tai Rom Yen" National Park. Kamin cave is about a kilometer or so long to walk through it and there are guides (kids) that want to make an extra 50 baht for showing you the whole inside. If you get the opportunity to follow two small boys 8-12 years old up through the top of the cave and around to the 2nd cave - DON'T unless you really want to get dirty and risk falling through a hole in the ground. My girlfriend and I followed them about 150 meters and then turned around as the path is not clear and there were numerous places to slip through the ground and into the cave below!

Inside the main Kamin cave it is fairly well lit, and you can see bats, snakes, spiders and lots of stuff that bats leave on the ground as they sleep and do their business. The smell is odd, but you'll get through it as you're only in the cave for an hour. Tough it out!

This cave is located just south of the city of Suratthani, Thailand which is in the south. It is very close to the Dod Fa (Dodfa) waterfall in Tai Rom Yen National park and it is rather easy to find.

Don't miss Dodfa waterfall - there are 8 main levels and the top level, if you can find it, is really beautiful.

Here are some photos of Kamin Cave in Suratthani province below.

[Location] From Suratthani city take Highway 4009 going south. You will pass a small city "Ban Na San" and shortly afterward you will see a sign for Dodfa waterfall on a wooden sign on your left. Look for it because it blends into the background, sometimes I STILL miss seeing it.  Approximately 3-5km after this sign - still on 4009, you will see on the left side a sign for Kamin Cave. Make a left there and follow the dirt road and signs.
