Ko Samui Resort, Never Before Seen Private
Beach Area
Now, probably every crack and rock has been seen and overturned in
Ko Samui by this time. But yesterday as we were driving around the
island we noticed the Four Seasons sign on the left. It's a
beautiful sign, and yet not one that is majestic... made from stone
with a waterfall in front of it, and you know... worthy of Four
Season's name. We decided to fly up the road beside the sign (we
were on motorbike).
We climb the steep, paved road and reach a gate. It is opening as we
arrive. I love Thai people in Ko Samui for this instant access that
farangs are sometimes afforded. The guard at the gate didn't know
why we were there, but we were allowed to come in. We thought we
were going to look around the resort. We pulled past the gate and
there were some Thai staff there. A single doorway that led to an
open-air restaurant that overlooked an incredible view was there on
our left and that was all.
There was nothing else around except another gate in front of us -
opened. We headed for that gate before someone could tell us not to.
We were greeted by an incredible place! There was no resort to be
seen. However, there was a primitive concrete road where some
workers were sleeping... we knew not many people came through, but
we went through!
We followed the road down the hill and it was VERY steep in parts.
It was beautiful too - we could see the ocean through the trees and
there was this marvellous staircase that went from the road where we
were all the way down to a private Ko Samui beach! We parked and
trekked down the steps to the water.
It was definitely a place that nobody came to. There were no
footprints in the sand or signs of others. The staircase was
concrete and made from thick tiles. Very nice. A wedding here would
be quite incredible. In the distance on the left side we think we
saw the resort buildings just past a group of rocks. We took photos.
We saw some interesting wildlife on the steps and we had fun
exploring a part of Ko Samui that very few visitors see. Why?
Because we just GO. We don't usually take no for an answer the first
time, if someone says "no" - which is very rare in Thailand - then I
start talking English and broken Thai and eventually we get to where
we want to go. We've taken some incredible pictures of places that
aren't usually open to the public - or not open much.
So, if you really want to explore - Ko Samui, Thailand is a good
place. You'll be surprised where you can go when you're determined
to get there.
