Ko Samui Postcard: Tong Takien Bay, almost private beach!

Ko Samui: Tong Takien Bay in Ko Samui, Thailand is almost a private beach during the off-season. There are very few visitors during June through December and most days you will not see more than 20-40 tourists on the 250 meter stretch of private beach!

Off season hotel reservations can be had for 800-2000 baht per night, depending on the quality of hotel you require. There are a number of bungalow types that are private enough for most visitors tastes.


Tong Takien is a quiet, family type almost private beach that is just south of "the CLIFF" restaurant and north of Lamai beach. There are a few places to eat Thai food and some outside tiki bar type places for beer and relaxing. The water is usually calm during this time and the water is clear about 80% of the time for some easy-going snorkeling. There are some rocks and coral in the shallow water, so care is advised.

Go to Ko Samui this summer or winter - it has something for every visitor!
