Ko Samui Restaurants food: Tom yum talay (seafood)
Try tom yum talay (seafood) soup on Ko Samui. There is a great
restaurant on the south east side of Ko Samui close to grandfather
and grandmother rocks (stones). If you are in the parking lot to see
the naughty rocks you'll see this restaurant on the right side.
Parking is right on the main road and you'll need to walk down a bit
to reach the restaurant which overlooks the ocean.
They have covered and uncovered seating. The mosquitos seem to be
more plentiful (yer-yer) at the tables that are uncovered and closer
to the beach. The ants too!
The covered building that is up off the ground makes for the best
dining experience.
If you go here you'll notice that there are many Thai people eating
here and few foreigners (farangs). There is a reason for this - the
food is GREAT THAI FOOD and the foreigners don't really know about
this place - unless they live on Ko Samui.
So - it will be our little secret... The tom yum is quite excellent
as is everything else we've ever eaten there except for maybe the
garlic bread which was very dry and maybe there was no garlic - I
couldn't taste any! :)
The staff is friendly and the prices are very reasonable. They even
serve San Miguel beer, which was a bonus for my husband!
Stop in, the name of the restaurant is, "Sabiang Lay". Get some
tom yum and pad thai, or really, ANYTHING on the menu as it's nearly
all delicious.
