March - June |
QUITE hot. Places like Ubon Ratchathani in Isaan and Chiang Mai in the north are blistering during this time. Little rain. Little wind. You'll want air conditioning all over Thailand during this season. Songkran is about April 13th and is billed as the hottest time of the year - for good reason. Throw some water during Songkran it may be the most fun you ever had. |

July - November |
Rainy season. More rain towards the end - October and sometimes November are hellish for some areas. Chiang Mai and areas around Bangkok are usually flooded yearly. South in Samui, Phuket, Krabi there is rain daily - usually more than once. Phuket floods a lot, especially October and November and when it does it's quite nasty. |

December - February |
Cool... Winter? I might not be able to force the word "Winter" out of my mouth since I grew up in the dreary Northeast of the states, but, it's definitely cooler. The Chiang Mai and Isaan regions are quite cool during this time and if you're riding a motorbike or walking at night you'll want a WINTER jacket. Forget about reserving air con rooms during this time. Fan will be perfect if you need it at all. In Krabi and Phuket, Surat Thani, Ko Samui, it's PERFECT weather - not too hot, and plenty of sunshine. Very little rain. |
