What is Living in Thailand REALLY Like?

Krabi Hotel Review | Riverside Hotel in Krabi Town

Krabi Hotel Review: Riverside Hotel

Quite an improvement from their last building! This hotel is close to the Krabi River in Krabi Town.

Location in Krabi Town

Off Uttaradit Road in Krabi Town on the road that runs parallel and next to Krabi river. It is located just behind the Esso gas station that is across from the first small island going away from Krabi town center and toward the mountains.

Rooms at Riverside Hotel

This is an old hotel that doesn’t look like much from the lobby – and actually – isn’t much, but it’s a safe comfortable place to stay for just 300 baht per night with fan room. It has a color TV and cooler rooms than the other hotel that’s close by – Grand Mansion Hotel. There is no hot water in the fan room. There is hot water in the air-conditioned rooms. Sorry, I don’t have the price for an air room.

This hotel is fairly quiet and usually fills up with Thai people traveling in groups so one night they might have 20 extra rooms and the next night -none. I didn’t see any other western visitors here during my stay of 2 weeks. It is in relatively close proximity to “Sprucy Cafe”, the orange building next door that serves Coffee, Tea and some snacks, even toast with jam. Sprucy Cafe has the fastest WIFI (wireless) internet service (uploads and downloads) in Krabi that I’ve found. The owner’s name is “Nut” and he’s a very nice guy and he speaks English very well.

Food: I never ate anything from this hotel.

Getting Around from this Hotel in Krabi Town

There are motorbike taxis constantly coming by and tuk-tuks occasionally. If you want to go to Ao Nang there are white pickup trucks that have seating in the back. They say AO NANG on the side. They also stop at Ao Nam Mao and fossil shell beach. If you are having trouble getting where you want to go from the front of the hotel, take a taxi to the Vogue Center – which is the mall in the center of town or the pier – you can go anywhere from those two places

Update – the Riverside hotel has moved out of that building and is now behind it – in a brand new hotel building and it appears to be a major upgrade.
