What is Living in Thailand REALLY Like?

Bangkok, Thailand is Not My Type of Place

I’ve been in Thailand about 47 months. I have stayed in Bangkok, Thailand’s capital for a total of about 5 nights and none of them were enjoyable enough to make me crave returning anytime soon.

I lived in NYC for over three years when I was 21-24. I can’t say I enjoyed it, but I didn’t despise it at the time either. It was filled with novel experiences that I’m glad I had. But, am I glad I spent three years there after living in Hawaii for four years? I can’t really say yes.

Fast forward to Bangkok. I think it’s world’s better than NYC in terms of things to do and fun to have. I’d still not want to live or stay there for any length of time. I’ve been spoiled by the Isaan (northeast) area of Thailand and the incredible people there. I’d like to return someday but who knows if that will happen anytime soon.

My body, my mind feel young – but I’m starting to get that older perspective on life. A mature perspective maybe? I’m 42 and the thought of waking up to traffic and so many people everyday, commuting into town for work or internet work just doesn’t sound like any fun. Eating at restaurants for 200 b that anywhere else in Thailand would cost 100 baht for dinner wouldn’t sit well with me. Needing a taxi or tuk-tuk, BTS skytrain or Subway to travel anywhere instead of firing up a motorbike or bicycle wouldn’t be my ideal way to get around.

Anyway, I just created a profile of Bangkok, Thailand at my main site www.Thaipulse.com that you might want to have a look at if you’re interested in finding out more about it.

I created this site to focus on expats living in Thailand, and tourists visiting Thailand. Don't miss the blog - Thaipulse.com/blog/. I hope you come away with something positive as a result of visiting Thaipulse.com. Feel free to leave questions or comments at the contact form under Home | Contact above.
